I am running once again for the position of Town Justice for the Town of Wawarsing. I have shown over the years that I am an experienced leader with outstanding people skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to recognize and resolve problems efficiently and effectively. My knowledge of the the law and its applications have led to the successful resolution of projects with positive results.
My Experience includes:
Serve as Town Justice for the Town of Wawarsing since 2008:
- Oversee the operation of the Justice Court
- Preside over criminal, civil, vehicle, and traffic and local ordinance trials and disputes
- Preliminary jurisdiction over all felonies occurring Ulster County
- Instituted several safety measures for the Court
- Added credit card payments for citizens' convenience
- Responsible for all monies collected by the Court
- Responsible for Court personnel (Clerks, Court Officers, etc.)
Member of the New York State Magistrates Association and the Ulster County Magistrates Association:
- 2011 - Board of Directors - Ulster County Magistrates Association
- 2012 - President Elect of the Ulster County Magistrates Association
- 2013 - President of the Ulster County Magistrates Association
- Wrote "Sovereign Citizens: A Guide for Court Personnel" for the Ulster County Courts. This is now distributed throughout New York State's Judicial training programs
Pool Director for the Town of Wawarsing Pools (2011 to 2016):
- Responsible for patron and camper aquatic safety
- Responsible for the training and supervision of lifeguards
- Responsible for operating the pools within Public Health Law and Ulster County Board of Health guidelines.
- Wrote a new pool safety plan for the operation of the pool facility
- Recorded and maintained pool records (water quality, first aid, swimming lessons, etc.)
Commissioner of the Ellenville Housing Authority (1999 to 2008):
- Mediated labor, tenant/landlord and human rights disputes
- Determined the budget and authorized repairs
- Set salaries and rules/regulations within the Federal and State Housing and Urban Development laws and regulations.
On a personal note...
NewYork State Police Uniform Trooper:
- Enforced all State and Federal laws, conducted criminal and accident investigations
- Successfully prosecuted minor misdemeanor ad vehicle and traffic cases in local criminal courts throughout Ulster County
- Promoted to Seargent in 1983
- Promoted to Investigator in the Bureau of Criminal Investigation:
- Investigated all serious incidents and felonies with over 90% case clearance rate
- Hostage Negotiator/Barricaded Subject Specialist with 100% clearance success
- Child abuse and the sexual exploitation of children specialist
- Taught Constitution Law, Search and Seizure Rules, Hostage Negotiation, Child Abuse Investigation, and Rules of Evidence at the NYS Police Academy and Department of Corrections
Served in the United States Marine Corps from 1970 to 1972
